At first, the usbc in the front panel of my MSI MPG Gungnir 110r case didn't work at all because it wasn't plugged in correctly to the mobo (asus z790 prime-v) so I plugged it in correctly and now it outputs power but does not detect any device at all and shows the error "Device Descriptor Request Failed".

I suspect it might be that the usb-c on the case is 3.2 gen 2x2 and the header in my mobo is 3.2 gen 1 and that there is some compatibility issue.

The header on the motherboard fits kind of lose anyway, I don't know if I could've broken something trying to get it to fit tight.

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

asus z790 prime-v
Is this the motherboard you're working with;
?

You might want to first see if the BIOS is pending an update. Following that, see if your IOS is pending an update. Following that, see if manually reinstalling your chipset driver in an elevated command, helps. Like so: Right click installer>Run as Administrator.

Stick to one thread, unless you want spaghetti brains.

I disconnected and reconnected the header, it now does not even supply power to my devices. I have updated the bios to the latest version now and nothing. Could it be that my front panel conector for the usb c is faulty or maybe that I damaged the header on my mobo?
