Frozen, shiver, chilling armor or energy shield

What is the consensus on which is the best armor/shield of the
sorceress skill categories? I'm referring to the choice of using
frozen armor, shiver armor or chilling armor, or perhaps energy
shield.

FWIW, I am planning on building a blizzard sorceress, and so far have
not invested points in dexterity or mana.

I use Shiver Armour personally, it has a better defense bonus than
Frozen Armour. A melee attacker struck by cold can save your life.
Chilling Armour only works on ranged attacks and is useless for chilling
if your attacker keeps moving.
Energy Shield offers the best defence but requires a large pool of mana
to maintain it and probably has too many pre-req's, unless you're using
Chain Lightning.

Same with my sorceress. You'll probably want another attack for cold
immunes though.

If you're going to use Fire Ball or Meteor for a back up attack then one
point in Enchant is not a waste. Your merc will enjoy the extra punch.
To make sure your merc is enchanted cast it on yourself after him to
turn your staff or orb red. That way you'll know when you need to cast
it again.
