I have a MSI K9MM-V mobo and a Athalon X2 5800+. The mobo is speced for 800MHz and the processor for 1000MHz. However my bios will not let me change from 200MHz. There are no jumpers that I can see or find in the mobo manual. What can I do to increase the FSB to 800MHz?

Look in BIOS for AUTO setting that can be altered to MANUAL. Is there any section for overclocking? The memory speed of 800 is the memory bus, the 1000 is the hypertransport bus. Re you trying to overclock? Google is your friend.

The rated FSB is different the FSB in the BIOS. Try to get a tool to check the FSB which will most likely show it at something like 1066, 1333, etc.

FSB is the clock that all other clocks are based from. In this case, DDR2 or Double Data Rate(400M) times 2 equals 800M. If the CPU has a 10x multiplier that is 10 times the FSB or 2000M.

HyperTransport is a CPU to I/O and CPU to CPU bus design. It is the speed that the cores and memory controller communicate with each other and is a multiple of the FSB.

If you have only one computer and set the FSB to 800M you will not be reading this thread until after you find the CMOS reset jumper.
