FSX: GTX 1060 3gb vs 6gb

Hi!
my name is Marc, and i'm 15 years of age. Happy Easter by the way!

I've asked on here which graphics card i should purchase for a high spec flight sim setup.
i have been suggested the following: GTX 1060 3GB and the 6GB edition, I would like to know which is the best performing card and what brand is the best also. I'm 15 and earn my own money, so i have a budget of around £200 or $250 but i am willing to pay the extra 10's for the 6gb if it's the best

I am open to any suggestions you may have are all are greatly appreciated.

If budget allows get 6gb version. With that said if you are gaming with a i3 or lower then the 3gb is best as budget matters.

like with the older 960 cards and the 2 gb and 4 gb so few choose the 2gb cards they were going to stop making them

you may not need that full 6gb all the time but if you did need it you got it covered for the small price difference go with the better 6gb . like said above sometime your pocketbook may not allow you to do things

still looks like a good price gap between them 6gb and 3 gb cards was only like 20 bucks at the time with the 960's for that little diff better off going with the 4gb on them

1060 6g is no doubt the best performer and if you're in the US you can find it for 220$ right now, 1060 3 GB is a cut-down version of the GTX 1060 6 GB so the difference is not only the Vram but a few other specifications as well.
RX 470 and 480 are quite close to both the 1060's performances but don't really beat them, however the RX 470 and 480 do beat them in most Direct x12 games.
That being said I'd recommend you to wait for RX 500 series which will be priced around the same as the current RX 400 series but will most likely give fraction better performance.
If you're in a rush then 1060 6g is your way to go.

Assuming your CPU is good, you have enough system ram, and you have the power supply for these cards, I'd choose the 470 if price was a priority. You'll get good 1080p performance at the lowest cost. If performance was the priority, I'd get the 1060 6gb. In my view the 1060 3gb and 480 4gb are sort of in a middle ground of not being low cost enough to be the best at price/performance but also not fast enough to be the best in performance alone.

One intangible- the flight simulator software you will use. If it runs better on Nvidia or AMD, that would be a good reason to buy that type of card.

out of these, which gives the best possible specs/setting for an almost maxed out flight sim or a very high spec flight sim. money isnt an issue, although i do earn my own money, so i do have a max budget of £250 or $313.
Whatever responses i may get will help me make my final decision.

Here are my current specs (not great but hey ho!): Motherboard: Asrock FM2A68M-HD+
integrated graphics chipset: AMD Radeon R7 Graphics with a memory size of 1gb and memory type of DDR3, 8gb of ram and the cpu type is AMD A8-7650k Radeon R7, 10 compute cores 4C+6G (quad core processor)

I am open to any suggestions you may have are all are greatly appreciated.

I'm upgrading a few specs on my PC and I have decided to invest in the GTX 1060 3 GB edition as the 6GB only has an increase of 10% in performance, and I don't think that's worth the extra money. what I would like to know what is the best 1060 3gb card under £200 or $250 for you transatlantic readers. I earn my own money so that's why it's not a crazy budget. i'm currently looking at the Gigabyte version, but are there any others with better specs such as processor speed etc?

I'm open to any suggestions and it would be much appreciated if you have any answers,

That would allow you to get the best experience, with higher minimums, and frames displayed as they are created- so faster frames in the end. The 'average frame rate' statistic that you must be checking does not represent dips and stutters users get with low VRAM, or frames sitting in frame buffer/tearing, which is normal without adaptive sync (freesync). nVidia card with just 3GB will also age very fast, forcing you to spend money again soon.

Hello!
I've asked a few questionable on here and have had great speedy replies and need to come to a conclusion but I'm a little stuck... I have been told to buy the GTX 1060 3gb to run my FSX at high settings and addons. I then posted about needing a new psu to run this card as I don't have a true 500w power supply with a pci-e cable, and it comes out pretty expensive. I'm 15 and earn my own money so I'm on a budget. It would cost me around £265 to buy the graphics card and the psu but I also heard That's the 1050 ti 4gb doesn't need a pci-e cable but it is no where near as good fps or ratings as I need. Should I invest in the £265 gear or go cheap. Also, I cannot afford to buy the GTX 1060 6gb and there's is only a %10 increase in performance so I i don't think Its worth it

I am open to any suggestions and any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

What's your actual PSU wattage?
Also, if your PSU is not enough and you are low on budget, I suggest you to invest on a new PSU first (maybe a modular 500/550W) and then think about a good GPU.

i'm going to buy the GTX 1060 3gb graphics card for my flight sim setup, as suggested by users, but one thing has just come to my attention.. my motherboard runs a memory type of DDR3 for RAM and the graphics card has DDR5 for it's VRAM (im guessing), would this affect me? or does it not really mean anything.

i really hope i do not have to buy another mother board as i'm only 15 and earn my own money and buying this GTX 1060 is burning a hole in my pocket. haha

No, it does not matter. GPU memory has no contact whatsoever with PC memory, so they can be (and often are) totally different types of RAM and that does not hurt anything.
