I think it was Hitachi that bought IBM. And IIRC, for bonus points, it was Seagate that bought Connor.

Geoffs - I can't name all 5!! I'm missing one from Seagate, Western Digital, Maxtor, Hitachi, and...? Is it HP? But I thought they were a re-branded Seagate.

Maxtor is Seagate's now, for almost 3 years. Ex-IBM HDD is Hitachi GST for over 6 years. Conner merged with Seagate over a decade ago.
The other remaining ones are WD, Samsung and Toshiba.
Fujitsu made great SCSI drives... surely they'll be missed.

Seagate isn't going away, they make the best HDs in the industry (the Barracuda 11 firmware issue not withstanding). WD is the only one giving Seagate any competition for performance. Fujitsu, Hitachi, and Samsung have been leading the way on power efficiency, but have rarely been close to Seagate and WD on performance or reliability. Toshiba has been the also ran of the industry until about a year ago when they finally introduced a drive that wasn't slow. Hopefully, they'll learn a lot from the purchase of Fujitsu, just as Seagate benefitted greatly from purchasing CDC/Imprimis years ago.
