So work wants me to fly across country for 4 months and I have a video game addiction. Would it be better to buy a decent laptop or (my choice) build a micro atx machine to take with me and in turn will my 2080 winforce oc fit in such a small rig.

All of these microATX cases will accomodate that 2080 Windforce card according to PCPP.

Although, if you already have a system built it doesn't seem like it would be that much more of a PITA to just take that than it would to try and put it all in a microATX case that is probably only marginally smaller, unless you have a full tower setup or some special reason why it can't travel.

It's definitely probably cheaper to simply do the microATX thing if you already have most of the parts than it would be to buy a laptop that has any kind of decent gaming capability.

Yeah I currently have the genome 2 so full tower with glass water cooling on the exterior so unfortunately I don't want to risk that

For 4 months? That's a lot of risk for little return. If that addicted to video games, you might consider a console. Even with the cost of game purchases, which can be done online, a console is at least sellable after, or can be tossed.

Your current cooling works, doesn't leak, isn't broke and other than maintenance, doesn't require being messed with. It fits its current purpose. Moving into a mATX or even mITX case will require extensive remodeling and repositioning, that'll mean basically a full rebuild including new tubing.

A console will play on any TV, any monitor, any resolution, anywhere and is highly portable. Your pc will require a monitor as they aren't worth a crap on standard Tv's which have terrible input lag.

Going away for a year? I'd arrange for the pc to be shipped as is. But for 4 months?

I really do dislike consoles in general, but just to satisfy a craving temporarily, it'll work.
