Here are some pics of Bad capacitors. Yes low quality capacitors can fail faster and shorten the life of the component. That doesn't mean that one of these boards WILL fail, but is not as likely to last as long as a mobo that has high quality caps like Abit.
You call THOSE bad capacitors?! Have a look at <A HREF="http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y80/monegard/mobo.jpg" target="_new">mine</A>

These are on the mobo I'm currently using BTW. The pic is more than 6 months old, so it's a little worse now. Thanks to Pat I'm emailing Soltek to get some new ones (I've got two of these boards actually)

From what I know, only Soltek and Abit actually did something about this bad caps thing for their customers that had the problem. I did not hear about any other company having some kind of support for their customers.

When you'll make the fix, take good notice about the polarity of the capacitors you are removing... new one will have to be placed exactly as the older one. If not, it wont work.

Hehe, well it's nothing I'm too proud of  Not only does it make me shy away from any case with a side window, but it's made my comp very instable. Sometimes I have to try a few times before I even can get it to POST.

Actually installing the new capacitors once I get them will be completely new to me. Luckily I have sime time to find info on it, and then there's always this great forum

You're lucky it's running with your caps in that condition!

You need a good hand, a good welding iron, and a lot of care... Well, if you ruin that board, then you'll have an excuse to upgrade.

Crashman, who sometime post here, make a good business about that.. buying defect board.repair them and sell them again.

aka Forum CheapArse
I must be going crazy from reading too much on forums like this one, but that acctually sound more like something you do for fun than to make money. Kinda like building R/C aircraft and painting it (another hobby...), but acctually productive. I'm definitely going to give it a go just for fun, but I'll wait until I have bought everything for my new computer and have it set up.

"And the current one I'm trying to do right it is flashing the SPD on my Ballistix PC3200 to PC4000 then sell it for higher price."

bah.. just sell it as PC4000 anyway and explain that, for compatibility reason with motherboard that only support PC3200 officially, it is configured as PC3200 from the manufaturer and should be upgraded by hand in BIOS.

"Best personal record: Splicing every wire on a 68pin SCSI ribbon in less than 20minutes with a blade and making absolutely ZERO mistakes!"

That is 17 seconds for 1 wires.. plenty of time IMHO...
