Okay. Here is my situation. I have a lot of old programs that are no longer compatible with Windows 10. These programs work fine on XP and even 7 (without some features), but not on 10. Many of them do not even have upgrade options (they were discontinued). I really see no point in upgrading and learning new programs, if what you have already, does everything you want. Right?
So, I decided to set up an OFFLINE only XP system to run all my old programs on. To do this I pickup an HP Elitebook 8750p ( 2.9 Ghz (3.6 turbo) Core i7-3520M and a dedicated AMD Radeon HD 7570M GPU) for $100 off ebay. To spice it up a little more I threw in a Samsung Evo 850 SSD. I bought this particular laptop, because I could still download a full set of XP drivers for it from HP. So I knew I would have full driver support.
I slapped a fresh copy of XP Pro SP3 on it and then installed all the XP drivers, except for the wireless (this laptop will never be connect to the internet and not have any form of anti-virus). The system is lightening fast and ruining smoothly.
Here is my problem. I want this system to share my Asus VS248 24" HD monitor with my windows 10 desktop system. I thought this would be easy. The desktop is connected via HDMI. The 8750p only has a VGA port though. The monitor has a VGA port too, so I hooked the laptop up to the monitor via the VGA port. But, the image is all fuzzy. Not blurry, FUZZY, like if there was radio interference. Kind of like a bad TV signal.
I have tried everything to fix it. I have no other options but VGA for this laptop, unless there is a way to go from USB 3.0 to DVI (the monitor also has a DVI port). I have looked for a PC Switcher box that offers both VGA and HDMI input to HDMI OUT, but I can't find one.
Anyone have any ideas?
