for 170 points it's not bad, but I dunno about the best gun in the game.
for a start it ranges from uneconomical to downright useless against
anything except AV14 vehicles - even against tyranid monstrous creatures
it's a waste, since it misses entirely 50% of the time whereas a
battlecannon will inflict the same damage with a better chance of hitting
something at least.

still largely irrelevant when the highest AV in the game remains at 14,
though. when the variables are 1-2 6-sided dice, the .5 difference makes no
appreciable difference.

as someone who routinely favors meltabomb or dreadnought attacks against
anything with AV13 or better myself, I can appreciate that the vanquisher's
200% range increase over the demolisher could be very viable in the
anti-tank role for many scenarios.

I believe the correction was going back to what was actually printed. I
wonder if the US and UK lists had something different.

The Destroyer is ideal -- huge area of effect that negates all normal
saves (including Sv2+) and causes Instant Death to anything up to T5,
while pretty much auto-penetrating any vehicle.

Um, did you not just say it's Ordnance? If so, it scatters as normal.

A S10 AP2 Ordnance Destroyer is awesome precisely because it combines
maximum power with maximum range. It does *everything*, so you don't
need as many tanks to get the job done.

no, I said ordnance damage. it doesn't have a blast template, it rolls to
hit but counts as ordnance for penetration / damage results.
