Imagine that: FX-57+SLi 6800 Ultra 512MB+Abit Fatal1ty mobo.

Let's try to go from there and we'll then talk about the rest!

I'm planning on buying the FX-57 for the rig I'm building. Call me retarded if it makes you feel good. I'm also going to buy the Geforce 7800 GTX and have a question.

If the GPU is the same on all the cards, what makes one vendor's card better than another (other than price)? My current card is a TI-4600 OEM and before that, I always bought Creative. Now I need some advice on the current market. Thanks

Quality of components, is what's different.

Some compagny offers nicer bundle if you car about it sometimes the software can be intersting and its LEGIT!!!!

Also other vendors put some slight factory OC on their card, they can do that because they use slightly better components than specified or other things.

Finally some card have betetr coolers and more bling bling on them wich can be nice.

But as mention the most important thing when shopping for a vid card is getting a compagny that use quality components

Asus P4P800DX, P4C 2.6ghz@3.25ghz, 2X512 OCZ PC4000 3-4-4-8, MSI 6800Ultra stock, 2X30gig Raid0

Reason why i made my comment about being retarded to get the FX57 is because i'd recommend the 4800+ over the FX57 any day. The 4800+ is basically 2 4000+'s or FX53's in 1. You can overclock it to 2.6Ghz easily with stockcooling, with better aircooling you'll get to 2.8Ghz(FX57's speed) no problem.

I'm in the same boat as you regarding the X2s vs. the FXs.

Once I get my 4400+, I'll just start waiting for FX2s!

Don't know why this came to mind, but here it is:

I'm easy to please. I just want a plain old A64 4000+.

Well, not argue but I do remember a recent article here on Tom's where one of the AMD reps said that gamers would be best served going with the FX as it will outperform the X2 at least for now. The review of the FX-57 by HotHardware seems to confirm this. I'm not savvy on overclocking so perhaps this changes the conclusions but I don't know that much about it to say so.

Gotta have it your way or no way at all!

The difference between the FX57 and X2 4800+ is very small, just look at the benchies comparing the FX57 to the 4000+ or the FX53, the performance on the 4800+ should be a little better since it has 2 physical cores, and some background xp apps can be handled easier by 2 cores.

Well, I'd gladly take an FX57 for an A64 4000 price tag.
