Hi all. Planning on getting the Gtx 1070 when it is released. Will an FX 6300 stock be enough or will I have to upgrade cpu too?

Solution

unless you plan to massively overclock that fx6300, no the cpu will not be good enough. once you get an fx cpu up around 4.7ghz it's disadvantages at 1080p 60hz pretty much vanish.
Whether there is a bottleneck will depend entirely on the resolution of your screen and the games you are playing .

The FX is not rated by some builders but it is a very capable gaming cpu if you overclock it a little . 4.2 GHz and it is competitive.
I would say the smart call is to buy the new graphics card and run it to see how it performs compared to published benchmarks .

I'll only be at 1080p, but since my current pc isnt too great (gtx 750ti) my games library has been limited. I'm looking to start playing things like Witcher 3 and Battlefield 1 when that releases.

Thats good to know. May have to try and overclock as much as possible. If all else fails maybe a new rig is in order. Thanks all!
