Yesterday I was in amd overdrive just checking up on some stuff and it was fine, it displayed 6 cores.Today I went in to amd overdrive and It's only displaying 3 cores?!What is happening why does it not say 6 cores anymore?Could it be because my power supply is to low that I cant run it?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, yes, yes, and yes.

Ok hopefully it works. If it does I will let you know by putting you as the solution! :)

I don't know which BIOS you are using, but here is an example of mine (the screen where you can enable/disable cores). It is under "Advanced BIOS Features".

Will it reset it if I take the battery out and put it back in?

That looks like just what I need! How did you get to that??

For my computer's BIOS, I access it by re-starting the computer and hit the "Delete" key on the keyboard about once per second until the BIOS screen comes up. Then using the arrow up/down keys on the keyboard, i scroll down to "Advanced Bios Features". Hit the enter key and this screen pops up. Arrow down to "CPU core Control". Hit enter and set it to manual. Then scroll down to each core and enable one by one. Then when you are done, hit F10 to save and exit (This is important, if you just exit without saving, none of the changes will take effect). Then you will probably get asked "Exit and save settings" or something similar. If the default is "n" for no, change it to "y" for yes and hit enter. It will then boot into windows normally.

Your BIOS may be a bit different, but you can scroll around the various screens to look where the "cpu core enable" section is. If you change something else in error, just exit without saving and start over.

Hello,I just done this and it brand up lots of options ,here is what it says

Boot menu

LS120
Hard disk
CD-ROM
Zip
Usb FDd
Usb zip
Usb CD-ROM
Usb Hdd
Legacy lan

Hmmm, that doesn't look like the full BIOS screen, it looks like the Boot options menu (telling your computer which device to go to look for an operating system to boot into). Try rebooting again, and rather than hitting the delete key repeatedly, try the F12 key (each BIOS has a different way to access it).

What specific motherboard do you have?

My motherboard is:

Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3

I have the same motherboard (except mine is USB2). So I would think you would have Award (brand) BIOS, just like mine. Is this a pre-built PC that you bought, or did you or someone else build it. If a pre-built (like Dell, HP, etc.) they often use their own BIOS, so it would look different.

When you first restart the computer, on the first screen that pops up, near the bottom it should tell you which keys do what on startup. You may have to restart several times to see all of the options, if the screen only stays up for a second. If you have your OS installed on a SSD, it may boot up so fast that it is hard to enter the BIOS.

This was a pre built pc by Dino pc (a gaming one) but I have upgraded some parts in it

F12 is the key that gets me into boot menu.

Omg yes!!!
I got in with delete key.it says advanced bios options pray for me

It says all the cores are enabled, but when I go into amd afterburner it says they are not..let me check again

That is very odd. The good news is that since all 6 cores are seen by your BIOS, they are all still working. But something, once your Operating System boots up, is either disabling 3 of them, or is just mis-reporting the number of active cores. I don't think you can disable cores using AMD Overdrive, so that's not it.

I noticed in your first image posted that the CPU is overclocked to 3816mhz, and the voltage has been lowered to 1.2v. Is this something you did? Try unclicking the red circle next to preferences in Overdrive to see if the cpu drops back down to stock frequency (3500mhz).

No I have never overclocked it,its always been like that I think or my brother might have overclocked it.

Is my cpu broke somehow? 🙁

It looks to me like it may have been overclocked in the BIOS, since the multiplier as shown in Overdrive is stock (17.5) and the HT ref clock is also stock at 200. The stock voltage should be at 1.3125, yours is at 1.2 (CPU VID).

That shouldn't reduce the number of available cores (I don't think), because I was able to overclock mine to 4114mhz by increasing the multiplier, HT ref clock and voltage.

I'm glad James Mason jumped in here, because I am at a loss.

Do you (James) think he should reset the CMOS?
