I have been struggling to overclock my AMD FX-8300. I have been using AMD Overdrive and I can't seem to find a stable clock. I have been clocking for a very short amount of time and I am a noob at it so I need help. As right now, the motherboard says I am running 3.30GHZ and Windows says I am running 4GHZ. I am very skeptical and worried on what is happening and whether I damaged my CPU. I am not really sure if I really need to overclock my CPU because I only play games such as GTA V, CS:GO, Dead by Daylight, etc.

My specs:
Motherboard: MSI 970A SLI Krait Edition
Ram: 8GB G.Skill Sniper
Video Card: EVGA 1060 GTX SC 3GB

You probably dont need to OC. But results of any OC'ing will vary according to what you are doing. Return everything to default settings in AOD. Start by disabling turbo mode. Simply increase the multi one click at a time, testing for stability and thermal margin between increases. When you get an unstable result, increase the vcore in as small an increment as offered. Repeat. Try not to go above 1.5V.

I still don't understand how to test a stability test for my cpu, so I left my cpu alone. It seems to do fine on games such as ARK. I guess Turbo Boost is the solution for now. Thanks.
