Fx 8320 Performance

So I want to know if the 8320 is a good processor. I'm planning on building a gaming pc and was wondering whether this was a good option. My budget is also $800. (That's in Canadian). How does this perform under intensive gaming environments, like multiplayer in Battlefield 4. What FPS can I get on most games running at ultra/high on this processor? I am also getting a R9 280X

Look up benchmarks for the FX8350, they're essentially the same chip just the 8320 is clocked lower at stock.

Mine has run everything I've thrown at it @ 60+ FPS (and its only @ 3.7GHz, overclocking to 4.4GHz tomorrow which is above 8350 speeds), although nothing quite as intensive as BF4. I believe ~60 high/ultra on BF4.

Yeah, the 8320 is a good processor. If you get a good cooler for it you can also overclock it a respectable amount. IT might also be worth shooting for the 8350, which just has a higher default clock.

The 280X is a great card, if a bit hot and loud. I would expect you to be able to run BF4 multiplayer at ultra with maybe the occasional dip to around 40fps.

I can't say for certain though. I'm not to familiar with AMD products and their performance.

Absolutely no need to go for the 8350 unless you're afraid of overclocking, honestly. There's about a 100MHz difference in OC ceiling between the two, might as well save the extra $$$ from the 8320 and spend it on something like a nicer GPU.

I think the multiplayer benches were a little lower, but recent patches have brought it back up to 55-60 on average FPS. Anyway, it's 1am so I'd better hit the hay :lol:

^ Based on iceclock's recommendation, just changed the mobo and CPU cooler. No point having a boss CPU cooler on a mobo that's bad for overclocking (The LE has bad phase design compared to the vanilla).
