I want to go from using an awful laptop, to a custom built gaming rig.

I have been looking around for quite a while, and have come to a dillema... FX-8350 Black Edition or the i5-3570k (both same price)

I want to get into new AAA games, but also games like PlanetSide 2 and Skyrim.

I also want to be able to stream smoothly... use skype while gaming... record my gaming... and be able to get video editting done in reassonable amounts of time not at the same time of course(5 minutes less rendering time doesnt mean anything to me btw).

I of course want opinions that are as unbiased as possible, and want to find an answer soon...

Thanks for the help in advance!

Rule of thumb for me is to use FX processors for more budget builds, the problem with the FX line up is that the 8350 will be one of the highest upgrades unless their will be another AM3+ cpu, sure you can get the FX-9xxx but it isn't worth the money for the upgrade. The Intel build can be updated with another 1155 cpu, if it were me I would buy a haswell cpu for some extra money, but the FX should be picked for a budget. The FX 8320e is $100 @Microcenter. I personally own the FX-6300 and overclock it to get performance. I have a i3-4160 also, is just more optimized for some programs over the FX.

I am aware that the i5 with Haswell is better with gaming, but what about when i want to record my gameplay with Fraps, or stream to twitch. Both cards are the same price for me, so it isnt a quest of budget or no budget. Plus i heard that the AM3+ socket has new chips coming out, whereas the LGA 1155 socket isnt going to have anything else down the road

I am aware of Linus' comparison video, but Tech Syndicate also did this, and he got other results: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4et7kDGSRfc
plus, even though gaming is my main concern, i want to be able to record with Fraps, and stream to Twitch.

If it makes a difference, I already have a GPU...
i bought a HD 7950 Windforce

And i want to be gaming at 1080p, and in the near future with triple monitors.
I want to be able to record my games almost all the time that i am gaming... (one monitor of course)
I want to be able to stream also, but could i maybe better utilize my laptop with a HDMI splitter and stream via my laptop, freeing up the CPU?

If I do go for intel, would it be better to mabye get an i7-2600k for that extra Hyper-Threading and better overclocking?

please take into effect what i will be using my pc for in your answer...
Thanks!
