Hello there, there is a guy on a swedish forum who wants to trade his FX-8350 + Sabertooth 990fx R2.0 for a i5 3570k. Just a straight trade no money betwen or nothing. Just my i5 for his FX+Mobo. Is this trade worth? Will i gain any performance? I play the latest games like Witcher 3 wild hunt, GTA V, Battlefield Hardline. All on ultra/Very high at the moment.

My i5 3570k is currently overclocked to 4,4GHz. BUT my motherboards ram slot 3 and 4 are broken so i do not have Dual channel at the moment just single channel with 16GB at 1600MHz.
If i do this trade i will be able to use my other rams that are 4x4GB 16GB 1866MHz.

So what i need to know is it really worth since the FX has 8 cores, im not that fully in to the AMD Processors so i wanted to know this before i do the trade. So if its not worth ill stay with my i5 3570k and in the future ill get a new motherboard so i can use dual channel.

Thank you!

Solution
No. The i5 is the better CPU. You cannot compare cores between the two brands. AMD is AMD and Intel is Intel. Intel CPUs are better at single threaded applications which is very important for gaming. If you were into Streaming or heavy compressing files or rendering videos, the AMD may have a slight edge but completely not worth the trade.

You are in the better situation. If you want dual channel RAM, just get a new motherboard.

I would go with the i5, runs a lot better with games. Where the AMD should run on par with the i5, a lot of games shown otherwise. ArmA 3, 20 fps lower. Far Cry 4, 10 fps lower. Games are just more generally optimised for Intel, AMD seem to be worthwhile for budget builds.

Yeah ill think i stay with it, i looked around abit about the FX-8350 my i5 beats its pretty good. i just wanted to know since it has 8 cores and my only has 4 cores. I had a AMD APU 7850k before and since then i said to myself never ever again AMD. ill just look for a new motherboard so i can use Dual channel. Thanks Joseph! I was abit afraid to find answers at this time :) 01:00 am in sweden.
