fx6300 4.4ghz 1.43 vcore issues.

Im trying to overclock my cpu to 4.4, i did it in a bad manner and just went from 3.5 to 4.4... so i started at 1.37 vcore, and im at 1.43. still failing.

It got up to 20 minutes so far, but i was seeing huge dips in the frequncy from 4.4k to 3k. So i decided to go and attempt to look around in the bios to fix it.

my computer hardly started. first time of it happening.

i press the power lights on the case go on for a second and turn off so i assumed i didn't press it long or hard enough.
I press it longer and harder, it does the same thing and shuts off. i wait a second, it starts up.



what is going on??? why am i having so much trouble at 4.4ghz. my temps dont even go above 50.


can you please help me? it seemed to be stable, just some weird fluctuations so i wanted to fix that and it just didnt start!

For a Fx 6300 cpu at its factory default speed of 3.5ghz.

Or any Fx based cpu if you can get 800Mhz overclock out of the cpu then it is considered ok.

3.3Ghz should be rock stable if you have a good after market air cooler on the Cpu and at least a motherboard that has a 990 FX chip set on the motherboard.

As well as a quality well branded power supply unit in the system of 600w or more.

1.37v on the core set at 3.3Ghz should be rock stable.
Even when doing a prime 95 test of the cpu.

Providing you are only changing the multiplier setting for the cpu.
and the base frequency for the bus and memory is still running at 200Mhz.

If you have the multiplier set for 4.4ghz speed, make sure the base clock stays at 200Mhz.
Or it will start to add overclocking to the memory fitted to the motherboard.

That can cause problems where the system will boot loop due to the memory being over it`s maximum clock speed even if in Xmp memory mode.

Your looking at about 1.45v for the core of the FX cpu when overclocking past the 800Mhz overlock.
Or again the system may boot loop KingCzar.

With a board that has a 970 based chip set they are a bit more finicky when going above 800 Mhz overclock.
990 boards are more stable, and can often result in up to 1000 Mhz overclock of the FX cpu providing you have good cpu cooling.

The board should boot or post if the core is set to 1.45v or 1.46v for the cpu core.
But you must test the cpu with a brun in test such as prime 95.
It`s no good setting an overclock of the cpu and saying the cpu ony reaches 50c if the temp you are getting is just hen the cpu is sat at windows desktop.

At 1.46v Keep a close eye on the temps of the cpu as once you exceed the 800Mhz overclock it will rise quickly and slightly higher.

Turn off amd cool and quiet in the bios to lock the cpu speed and the overclock at it`s fixed manually set frequency by your settings.

1.6v volts of a FX cpu core is the maximum you can set. any higher and you risk damage to the cpu in over volting, or rapid heat buildup KingCzar.

Try to stick to a maximum core voltage setting of 1.5v if you have to go that far.

Sometimes even if you keep adding slight core voltage increases to the core of the cpu in 0.250Mv power steps it does not stabilise the cpu with the clock multiplier set.

You just have to except the silicone of the cpu die is lacking in quality.
And have to back the cpu down by a 100Mhz if the case.

Thank you i appricate this, ill continue to problem solve and take what you said to help me. Ill tone it down a bit and try 4.3ghz. ill let you know how things work
