Solution
A pentium g3258 + board would be cheaper and beat the fx 6300 in about 85% of all games. Plus, you could upgrade to a haswell or broadwell I5 later, if you went with a z97 board.
And that would really be the only thing I would personally maybe do so I could upgrade quick. But getting a gpu as fast as the gtx 970 and then gimping yourself with a low end cpu, impacting performance to a level you could have went with a gtx 960 in the first place, since there wouldn't really be much difference due to the fx 6300 cpu limit.

yes. Although for gaming, I personally think intel is the way to go. I'm doing i3-4370 with a B85 motherboard for my son this week.

But the biggest factor is really going to be that GTX970. I have one and it's pretty amazing.

BTW, what h55 motherboard do you have? wanna sell it? I might be interested. PM me.

Hey man I have an FX 6300 and have a GTX 970 on the way. There are many videos of gameplay using the FX 6300 + GTX 970 even at stock speeds and doing perfectly fine.

I really love the FX 6300 and as nice as it would have been to be able to buy an i5, which in the future I most probably will. I have never been like "Wow, if only if I had an i5, I'd be able to do this .."

I haven't received the GTX 970 yet, but there is no doubt it's an excellent choice for gaming.

The combo of 6300 and 970 will be perfectly fine. The higher graphic intensity has less impact on cpu... i mean if u were gaming at 200 fps than ya id say cpu is bottleneck but that wont be the case with almost all modern games.

I have to agree with you on this as long as the Intel board is decent enough slamming in a i5 4670k will give you massive performance you could still buy the GPU in question but there are good alternatives too the R9 280X 3GB is a fantastic card and half the price beats the 970 in some games too just a suggestion :)
