Hello to the many minds of the forum.

I have a fx 6300 CPU which used to be paired with a powercolor amd r7 240. I had no problems with this card for a good while, after seeing a good deal on a Zotac 750 ti I bought one. Once I installed it I ran Assassins Creed 3 and within 10 minutes black screen and hard reset. After reboot I ran HWmonitor and discovered crazy heat on my CPU. GPU heat was fine, I am stumped really. Even running idle now it's up in 50's (Celsius), I am worried and unsure what to do.

It is a well maintained system, gets cleaned, off the floor, good venting, all fans working. Any help or suggestions will be appreciated and thank you in advance, I am also more than willing to provide any further info you may need to ponder this issue.

Thanks

Have you built you PC yourself? If yes, check how much thermal paste is applied on your CPU. Normaly, there shouldn't more than a bean-sized amount of thermal paste. If there is too much, I'd recommand removing a little bit but in the improbable case where you don't have enough you may have to buy an add some.
