I noticed that my fx8320 cpu temp at around 40c at idle. is this too high??
I check the cpu compound, it's very thin and dry. is this the reason??
CPU temp will go up to around 50c only at pretty minor load, surf internet, watch youtube, something like this.

My pc also restarted itself twice at around 50c. is this a sign of my cpu cooling problem???

Thank you !!!

The hot nb is an issue on a lot of 990 series boards mate which is why I've stuck with the older 970 chip set on my builds.
However the north bridge is rated up to 80c so it ' should not' be an issue.

Consider taking the free win 10 upgrade mate from within windows 7 - this will give you a fresh windows system install but keep your old data & programs/games intact.
Its an easy option & I personally see no reason not to upgrade - I'm running win 10 on 3 systems & everything is rock solid stable.

geees....ok, I can take its hot, but should not cause shut down. My struggle is I dont know what cause the shut down. The nb is hot, but I am not sure if this is the cause of shut down, or there might be some other issues. Is ur suggestion using win10 related to this or not? I am actually thinking of upgrade to win10. what's the advantage of win 10?? I used to have a win8, but just so used to the win7 already (having difficulty finding things in win8), then I still switch back to win7.

My main reason for suggesting a win 10 inline upgrade is

1. Its the quickest & easiest way of getting a clean windows system install on your pc without losing programs/games/data.
2. You were incredibly lucky to swap boards & at the very least not get a reactivation notice for windows 7.
3. If that windows 7 install was what came with the cyber power PC & is an OEM copy then it may fail reactivation if you do a clean windows 7 install.
Which means you may end up having to pay for a new copy.

A win 10 upgrade negates the above - if your current win 7 shows activated status then a win 10 upgrade will definitely activate OK.

I honestly don't know 100% if your board does have a problem - its a fact though that the nb tends to run at 60c minimum constant on a lot of 990 boards even when idling.

BTW - I also hated win 8.1 , however win 10 is better.
Ive installed classicshell & 8ballgadgets (both free programs) on my win 10 PC which makes it on the surface indistinguishable from windows 7 - it looks exactly the same & everything is where you'd expect it to be but with an extra windows 10 option on the start menu which gives access to the Microsoft store & apps & all the extra win 10 related stuff.
The only thing windows 10 doesn't have is media center.

sounds great. I ll probably go install it.
Win10 need more resources, right? i assume. take more ram or smthg?

Great.
yes, so once i try a new board, i will install win10!!!
thank you

^ this is why I suggested it.

You can download win10 now.

Use the media creation tool rather than the upgrade button.

Select to create USB installation media & save to a folder on your hard drive.

This way in the install fails for any reason you will still have the files rather than having to download again.

yes, i will do the as madmatt suggested, to install a win10.
