Hi, for a long time now I've been having CPU throttling issues with what I assume is either my CPU or my motherboard VMRs. During intensive games, my fps would dip, along with my CPU and GPU-usage in frequent intervals.
I've applied Enzotech MOS-C1's to the VRMs which I feel helped the problem a bit, but not entirely. What else could I do to resolve this problem? Maybe a better CPU-cooler? I'd considered maybe getting another motherboard, but my case only supporting micro-atx limits my choices.
Is there maybe a way to clock back my CPU to help things out?

My specs are as follows:
MoBo: Asus M5A78L-M/USB3 Micro-ATX
CPU: AMD FX-8350
Cooler: Scythe Shuriken Rev. B
GPU: Nvidia gtx 970
PSU: Cooler Master G650M
Case: Cooler Master Silencio 352

Thanks in advance!

Yeah, that about sums it up.
They both are good, but why do you believe the Aura has a worse VRM that the Gigabyte (they both are 8 phases)? Even though it only supports 125W CPUs, it has been tested with a 220W FX-9370 overclocked to 5.0 GHz: http://www.overclockers.com/asus-970-pro-gaming-aura-motherboard-review/ If you check this review, the voltage regulator also seems to be cooled quite well: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/asus-970-pro-gaming-aura-motherboard,4557-3.html (Overclocking, Power And Performance middle picture).

Not really that the Gigabyte is better but if it does all the same basic stuff i dont really want to pay an extra £30 for a board that doesnt do that much more than just look nice. If the Asus board were actually better then i would go for it though

the aura is a 7+1 ,the ud3p is an 8+2

look at reviews across the board & the aura (like the m5a97 r2 & evo) nearly always needs a hefty voltage increase & the llc upping to hit relatively small overclocks, whereas the ud3p ( which I have used a lot) has always in my experience managed similar overclocks on stock voltage or even lower.

Gigabyte have always had the upper hand over comparitive asus boards in this respect until you get into the upper echolons of the 990fx chipset.

The aura is a nice board , looks good, good feature set with much of the 990fx stuff onboard.

HOWEVER

I've just seen the price of the 990 gaming drop about £40.

For just over £80 (£12 or so more than the ud3p & absolutely worth it) & with all the features of the aura but with a 10 phase vrm setup.
If I were building an fx 8 core rig that would be 100% the board I'd go for personally.

Thank you very much i did see that but thought it would have a bad power phase design but if not then i will definately go for it if better than the gigabyte!

Just from the looks of it i assumed that the G1 gaming was worse but you payed more for the better looks of it but if it does actually have an 8+2 power phase then i will pay the extra for it

Thank you very much for the help! I know you have suggested it as well and helped me diagnose my problem! very much appreciated!
