My Computer kept crashing, and I identified that the Ram was the culprit, when I ran memtest on each of the sticks only one stick had problems, my question is if I can buy a single stick of ram to replace the faulty one?
-do I have to buy them in a set for dual channel functionality or can I buy a single ram stick that has the same specs. The Ram I'm looking at says (1 x 4GB) instead of the (2 X 4GB) both of the other sticks have, everything else is the same, if I buy the single stick will it be compatible with the other stick from the original set? Or will this be problematic?
-also are the years important (mine says Dec 2011) vs Dec 2010?
Ram: G.Skill Ripjaws 240 Pin DDR3 SDRAM 1600 PC3 12800
I'm thinking of buying this Ram Stick.
