Hello, I have a Asus Z97A board and just got g.skill trident ddr3 2400 16gb ram, i noticed in bios it was running at 1333. i see a spot to choose the frequency and also the xmp area I read about. Is this overclocking? Should I enable xmp or set the frequency. Is there a noticeable jump from 1333 to 2400 thank you so much for any help.

Nowadays, overclocking is determined by the memory controller on your CPU. So while you may have 2400MHz RAM and a MOBO that is rated to handle it, you will need to overclock the CPU in order to take full advantage of it. If the speed was stepped down to 1333MHz, that probably means that the memory controller on your CPU defaults to that. What CPU do you use?
