I got a XB270HU G Sync Monitor. I was testing it out with a game that does not have a Built in frame limit but it does seem to stop at 200 FPS. with G Sync ON and a 144 hz monitor, its showing on my FPS meter, 200 fps. V SYNC is off because of G Sync.

Should I let it run at 200? would running at 200 on a 144 cause any input lag? If I cap it should I cap it at 144 hz or 143 or 140 or something around there?

Try capping it at 140 unless you think it's not doing anything bad for you above refresh rate...if you notice input lag or screen tearing then cap it but only real way to see any difference is just to try them both out. It will probably be different going from game to game.

Are you certain that you have set up G-sync properly? With G-sync on, FPS should top at the refresh rate value (i.e. 144 fps in your case). If you're seeing 200 fps, I'm afraid you are running nothing but V-sync off.

ICYMI, Blurblusters (website) did some in-depth research. They found out G-sync's input lag @ refresh rate value is on par with V-sync on @ refresh rate value. Capping FPS 1-2 below refresh rate value dramatically reduces input lag.

The original article can be easily discovered with a Google search.

Lastly, congrats on your G-sync monitor purchase. I'm too broke to buy one ATM.

Cool thing about G-sync is it doesn't matter if V-sync is on or off as the Variable Refresh Rate will kick in no matter what, that being said V-sync on in the driver is on by default when you have G-sync enabled, did you manually turn it off (in the driver)?

That being said if it's on in the driver, in-game v-sync on/off matters even less.

If you're getting 200+ fps on a game you might as well turn settings up such as DSR to increase visual fidelity and your FPS will than be below 144fps/hz your monitors max refresh rate.
