Hello guys, im new here so i wanna upgrade from my old 1080p monitor to 1440p 144hz.
Should i get G-sync monitor or a regular 144hz one?

due to divorce of my parents and lack of money in high school i missed a lot of good titles(awful rig), and now i wanna play titles from like 2010-present.
2 months ago i managed to save some money and get myself a new rig.

It's: -Asus Prime Z370-A II
- GTX 1070ti
-i7 8700 (dark rock 4)
-G.skill 16gb 3200
-Samsung 970EVO 500

I already downloaded Witcher III and Skyrim, planning on Dark Souls III, Far Cry Primal, Call of Duty, Tom Clancy's etc..
I play WoW and LoL online, and would like to try OW and PUBG, also i would search good titles from 2010-2017 that i missed.
When i play Witcher and Skyrim on this monitor its not that good image quality, i decided to not play it at all until i've got a new one. Dont wanna ruin the game for myself 😀

How about taking some games, preferably some of the more graphics-intensive games as well as the games that you will play the most? Set the game at the detail settings that you would like to play at or feel most comfortable with, and set the framerate limit to the highest option there is. Make sure v-sync is disabled. Then tell me the average fps of each of the games.

Okey so i tested it and results are:
-Witcher all on ultra and resolution 1920x1080 60fps
-Skyrim same settings 60-70
GTA V 60
Mass Effect Andromeda 70-80

Keep in mind your rig will need to be able to pull 144fps to be able to experience 144hz. Not sure if you're in for a GPU upgrade also as you're also upgrading resolution wise. Going from 1920 x 1080 to 2560 x 1440.

If you're pulling 60fps at 1080p, don't expect it to get any better at 1440p.

Might be worth looking into a new GPU first of all.

So you would like playing on all max settings? You should probably get a g-sync monitor.

On second thought, you could just skip the g-sync and buy a better graphics card. I don't know if $700 for a 1440p 165Hz monitor is worth it.

Also, do you want very high quality HDR gameplay or a panel with good color, or would you just prefer high resolutions and low response times/input lag?

I have found this 1440p 144Hz monitor for about $310. I don't know if it has g-sync or not. The title says it does, but some reviews say it doesn't...
