hello,
I'm not sure if or what i am doing wrong but my g3258 won't go over 4.5 ghz without bsod's.
it can reach 4.5 ghz with 1.375 vcore with a hyper 212 evo and won't go over 80 C.
do i have a very unlucky chip or is it someting else?
mobo: asus maximus vii ranger.
psu: coolermaster g750m

22nm refers to, effectively, how thin the "wires" are inside the CPU. Just like you shouldn't run a clothes dryer on speaker cable, you don't run 22nm chips beyond 1.3V. 20 years ago CPUs ran on 5V, but they used 1.5um (1500nm).

I personally am not at all fond of adding voltage; that IS how parts are killed. Some chips are better than others; that's what we call the "silicon lottery."
Btw, the better of my two chips was hitting 80C in Prime95 with the stock cooler, so I did not push it any harder. I am generally satisfied with mild-moderate overclocks, and going from 3.2GHz up to 4.2GHz is a pretty decent jump.
