Reference the GA-5AX mainboard;

The manual says this board will take 256MB modules (max. total
3x256=768) ECC or non-ECC RAM.
I am trying to use 256MB sticks of ECC PC133 ram but I just get the
'can't find memory' bleep at switch on. (I had the memory checked
professionally and it is OK)
I've tried a single stick in slots 0,1 & 2 with the same result.

The PC works fine with a stick of non-ECC PC100 128MB.

Is there any way to use ECC PC133 memory on a GA-5AX Rev. 4.1 (latest
BIOS f4).

Nope. Get PC100 ram instead. I had 3 sticks of PC100 from Crucial non-ECC
ram that worked fine with this motherboard.

So either 3x128mb giving 384mb

Or 3x256mb giving 768mb.

But this motherboard will only take PC100 ram.

However, this is from my own experience.

PC133 works fine (ran my rev 4.1 board for quite a long time on 3x256 MB
Diamond PC133 DIMMs) as long as the chips are of the proper bank
organisation. You need good old 'double sided' (actually double row) DIMMs.
Also the chipset does not support ECC above 83 MHz host bus and yours
are ECC DIMMs. In theory this shouldn't prevent the system from booting
(you'd simply have no use for the ECC support) but you might want to
check that out too as a possible reason if you're 100% certain the DIMMs
are of the proper bank organisation. Lower the host bus down to 66 MHz
and observe the results.
