Every test I've seen todate has produced slower real world benchmarks with 8X than with 4X...soooo, I think the hype over 8X is much mis-understood. The last thing a video card wants to do is use the AGP bus for anything that is critical to rapid display of images. The memory sub-systems on the latest video cards are so much faster than anything AGP can possibly do now or in the near future. Video cards have 128-256MB of memory for a reason, so they don't have to rely on a slow 8X or 4X or whatever X AGP bus.
