Sorry if this has been answered before, but paging isn't working in Search mode on the forums. [Moderators - I can give more info if you'd like; just PM me.]

I'm putting together my new rig and am having an issue with power staying on. I've just started building it, and have yet to see it POST.

Parts:
Motherboard: Gigabye GA-965P-DQ6
CPU: Intel E6600
PSU: Antec NEOHE 500
Case: Antec Nine Hundred
Heatsink/CPU Cooler: Thermaltake Blue Orb II
RAM:Corsair DDR2-800 XMS2-6400 (TWIN2X2048-6400C4)
Video Card: MSI GeForce 7600GS
[1] To start with, I made sure the PSU was working ok, by plugging in a couple of the case fans and turning on. Result: works.

[2] Next step was to plug the PSU into the mobo, install the CPU and cooling fan, video card, RAM and power up. Result: CPU and case fans come on for a few seconds, then power off, then come back on and power off again, and repeat indefinitely.

[3] Recalling what the mobo FAQ said about possible grounding, I pull the mobo out of the case, and making sure it's pretty well insulated, power up. Result: Same as above.

[4] Thinking that perhaps the Blue Orb II heatsink/cooler is an issue, I replace it w/ the stock Intel fan. Result: same.

[5] Now worried that I fried something, I pull everything out and go back to step 1. Result: works.

Any help/ideas would be appreciated.

ok i had the exact same problem when i first completed my build (very similar cept i have e6300) and i thought my psu was too weak (350w) so i got a 500w one and it worked fine for about two months (stopped working a week ago) so i took it to the pc store in town and i helped the chick there swap out all the parts so that it only had the basics and then we finally managed to get it to start and reset the bios, it then booted into windows fine (we only tried it once) but when i got it home it did the same thing agian so i took the whole thing apart and blasted all of the dust out of it and put it back together, now when i start it all it does is boot to the windows start-up screen and crash, so i tried re-installing windows and it gets to the part where it says setup is starting windows or something and crashes, so i sent a message to gigabyte and said to try RMA'ing it, i havent done it yet but will soon. i suggest you try what i did and if it doesnt work then get an RMA. it seems to be a really common problem and it really sucks
