Hey all!

I have a Gigabyte Z68A-D3 Motherboard, which currently has in it 4.0GB Corsair DDR3 1600mhz XMS3 (2 x 2GB) and am looking to upgrade it to 16-20GB of ram (depending on whether or not you can mix stick sizes)

Please don't laugh at me. When I told my house mate, he almost took offence... waving his 16gb Mac Book in my face.

So, the motherboard is this thing:

http://www.gigabyte.com/products/pro...px?pid=3897#sp

I looked at the memory support list linked on the site... but don't see any 8GB sticks being listed, despite the max being 32GB according to the website. (It has 4 slots for RAM)

So I was wondering if someone could advise me what this information means. Ideally I would like to buy 2 x 8GB sticks, so I have room for more later.

....also! If I keep my 4GB already in there and add 16GB... is that ok? Given that the sticks are of different sizes (2x2 and 2x8)

I don't have a clue about what's good value for money, but I'm looking to spend £40-50ish.

Corsair looks good from what I see on amazon?!

Anyways, Thanks so much for any help! Very kind of you 😀

You really don't want to mix memory sizes. Just sell or hold onto your old memory and replace it entirely.

You're right, they don't list any 8GB modules, but, 8GB modules from GSkill or Corsair at 1.5V and 1600MHz should work just fine.
