Is this another last breath for AGP hopefuls? The fact that its just over £200 ish, works out cheaper if you upgrade to pci x. I wouldnt really wamt to upgrade as changing my system would b a total pain in the ( I ) for me. What you guys think? Sumink just doesnt seem right about it.

AGP is dead anyway. Next gen platforms (AM2 and Conroe) most likely won't produce AGP motherboards. Even if you have a good system now with AGP (3700+ s939 on a AGP mobo, example), it should be better getting a PCI-E mobo with a good PCI-E card.
Exactly. Spending a lot of money on AGP right now is like shooting yourself in the face.

OOOOOOHHH. My 300th post :). I got to 200 on saturday; 100 last thursday.

Hmmm I need a new AGP card and this might be the first NVIDIA I'd will have ever bought. When is it our for sale and what might be it's price?

Thanks in advance.

The memory don't mean squat. 512mb does nothing for performance.

The impressive part is that it's 20 pipelines, a full-fledged 7800 GT specification, even though it's called a 7800 GS.

Every other 7800 GS available is pipeline crippled to 16...

I too am looking to upgrade my AGP video card so thanks for the heads up I was going to order one of those other GS's but if there is a better one on the way then ill get that one :) and for people who say AGP is dead not just yet I would say this is its last hurra but I would call it dead yet 😛 my P4 at 3.2Ghz is just fine for most games thank you ! its my poor old Radion 9800 Pro thats slowing me down 🙁

Why should I throw my Mobo and the rest away just cause my vid card bit the big one... I'm NOT ready to upgrade move to PCI-E just yet..

AMD Athlon 64Fx-53
HIS Excalibur X800 XT PE with IceQ II Cooling (now dead)
Asus A8V Deluxe VIA K8T800 Pro Chipset ATX AMD MB
1 Gig of OCZ 3500 unbuffered Ram
2 Western Digital 74 Gig Raptors in Raid 1
DVD ASUS 16X DVD
DVD+/-RW PLEXTOR|PX-712A
CPU FAN Thermaltake Silentboost K8
Cooler Master Wave Master Case
Antec NeoPower 480 Watt PSU
SB Audigy 2Z Platinum Sound Card
Dell Ultrasharp 2005FPW 20.1 Wide Flat Panel

I just need a new and faster card, if I can get it.

7800GS is higher clock 6800Ultra basically.

Yeah, except for Gainward's 20-pipe 7800 GS beast.

Kudos to Gainward for making a viable AGP upgrade, even though I would be hard pressed to recommend it to all but the most die-hard AGPers...

I am in the same boat.
My i865-AGP computer is maxxed out. After I upgrade the video card, I will need new EVERYTHING.
I want to wait until at least until the end of the year to get new everything - Then I rather have new generation everything (DX10, Conroe/K10, DDR2, PPU, etc).
