I'm just curious on what phone would have better performance in the long run between the Galaxy vs LG. I have been a big fan of Samsung phones for a while now, but the Galaxy S5 i have now is only 5 months old and it already has a scratched screen and back camera so i'm thinking of changing. I've heard good things about LG lately and I'm just wonder if i should just stick to Samsung or make the switch. Which phone has better stats?

Solution
TH S7 has better stats overall and Samsung has a better screen by far, their AMOLEDs are fantastic.

The LG G5 has a decent camera and has some options for add-ons to the hardware.

The S7 is water proof and has fast wireless charging and fast USB charging.

No matter which phone you get always get a screen protector for it as glass can get scratched. I have never had my camera scratch but I am careful with my phones and they normally last me a very long time.

I had an S4 with no screen protector and dropped it many times on concrete without a scratch or scuff, tho often times i would catch it with my foot to slow it on the way down. One time I was not sober and the foot catch turned into a kick in the side and resulted in a small crack from the power button arcing to the ear speaker. To it's credit the crack never expanded or spiderwebbed in any way, even after 2 years. That was Gorilla Glass 3.

The S7 and G5 uses Gorilla Glass 4, which is supposedly less likely to crack but more likely to scratch... second the screen protector.

S7 has IP68 rating (water resist), Wireless charging, AMOLED screen, noticeably better low light shots, brighter always on screen and still better battery life.

G5 has bigger screen, 24-bit audio, USB Type-C port, better (mostly) and more cameras (incl a wide-angle) and a removable battery. There is also a big plus when it comes to physical data transfer speed, while the supplied quick charge isn't capable of it (go figure), if you buy a USB 3.1 (or 3.0) cable (USB-A to USB-C) the G5 is capable of much faster data transfer speeds. How fast I don't know (my $3 cable hasn't arrived from china yet, will update when it does). The modular thing is just a failed fad as far as I'm concerned, but the 32-bit DAC (audio) - if they get much cheaper, would be pretty cool.

The S7 is also way more expensive, especially now that the G5 price has dropped alot.

Personally I just recently went with the G5 because it was much cheaper, has similar computing power, same 4GB ram, an overall better camera situation, better audio, faster wired transfer and a removable battery. And maybe a 32-bit DAC one day.

Also I've come to hate Samsung because of the terrible way they treat (don't care about) their customers and their several bad and a few horrid products, only the worst of which they do what little they can get away with about. Overly red monitors/displays in late 00s, they said no they're not... 840 SSD performance tanks..they didn't even respond, 840 EVO SSD same tank, got failed patch, then iffy patch, exploding Note 7s got recalled...

LG has always had awesome customer service, and never once has a product failed me (I have/had many). I have a Studioworks 17" crt monitor from 1998 that still works like the day I bought it. The Sony one I bought around the same time died in 2003.

Though I must unfortunately say the G5 is often a chance, some have perfect builds, some have really poor builds, some inbetween - so if you go G5 make sure it's somewhere with a good return policy so you can inspect it (the build quality is visible to the eye, internals obv not) and return it if you didn't get a good one.
