game crashing to desktop.

My games are crashing but still running in the back ground and the last 3 seconds of music are still playing on repeat. I can see my desktop but have to go into task manager and shut down the game before i can click on anything on my desktop. Its not all games, just dead by daylight, balistic overkill, prey, h1z1(might just be early access as when it crashes its slightly different.) It used to be overwatch but since the the nvidia update a while back i have been having no problems with overwatch any more. this makes me think its a gpu issue but im not a huge techie.

I have an hp omen 17 laptop with a gtx 1070 and an i7 6700hq. i hook my laptop to a ben q monitor and most games run at around 120 fps at ultra 1080p, don't know if that info is helpful but hey.

Run CPUID HWMonitor and watch your temperatures. If your CPU goes above 80 or your GPU above 90, you should cut back some settings and/or open up the laptop and blast the dust out of it with a can of compressed air.

+1 on checking temps , but if that turns around fine less than 85°C , reboot in safe mode and unistall all nvidia related stuff , reboot normally and perform a clean install of nvidia drivers . Sometimes i had similar problems . Updating the directX or re-installing the game's dx version , and or vc redist from the game's redistributable foder helped , sometimes reinstalling the game helps , and sometimes try downclocking your gpu by 100MHz

To uninstall the driver properly you should use DDU; that way you can be sure there's no left-over files from the old drivers.
