Game installs but won't play!!

For the past week I have been trying to play Nancy Drew : the Captive Curse. Windows Xp. I downloaded a digital copy for the manufacturer, installed it, clicked it to play, NOTHING happened. Tried uninstaling / reinstalling. Nothing. So I tried downloading it from GameStop..same exact thing. After hours of checking my computers specs and matching it with the game requirements I was stumped. So I decided to get a hardcopy (that won't fail). SAME ISSUE. The game doesn't do anything. I'm completely stumped, defeated and frustrated. The guys at geek squad won't help, PLEASE HELP! Before a lose my mind.

Couple things to try, compatibility mode, and running as admin. Might help, does the screen go black or anything at all or just stuck waiting for it to do something?

Look for the app in Task manager--> processes, if there is a process of it running close the process and try again, if not try running as admin by right clicking the file. Maybe the file is corrupted

I tried compatibility mode, I'm not sure how to run as adim.

But when I click the game or right click and click run, the mouse loads for just a second and then stops.
