Question Game not smooth at high FPS ?

So I've noticed in a game I play I will get 180-360 FPS on one client with better mods while i get 400-500 on another client with worse mods.

i have a 120hz monitor and cant rly think of a reason why the extra 200+ fps would make the game feel so much smoother, its just about as stable as the 180-360... i have tried vsync and with v sync enabled its just as bad even dropping under 119 fps which i should be able to run no problem

the only diffrence i know of is 1 client is more optimized but i need it to feel the same on the client with lower frames

16gb ddr4 ram

When posting a thread of troubleshooting nature, it's customary to include your full system's specs. Please list the specs to your build like so:
CPU:
CPU cooler:
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Chassis:
OS:
Monitor:
include the age of the PSU apart from it's make and model. BIOS version for your motherboard at this moment of time.

in a game i play
Might want to include the names(s) of the game(s).

i would like to but not a single thing i send gets through, always flagged as spam ??

Does the game have the option to run at 120fps. It is going to take GPU and CPU power to create all those extra frames that are going to be discarded anyway. All it really does is give you a bigger number on the screen not actual frames being send to the display.

I suspect your problem is in the game code itself and not video output. This is extremely hard to say since details of how games work vary so much. If you take a over simplistic example. If you are on a login screen you will likely see the frame rate counter very stable. If when you put your id in and click login and you detect a delay (lag) nobody would blame the video setting for that issue. Your problem could be some issue with the game code. It could be getting stuck reading some file or maybe talking to some server.

16gb ddr4 ram

1 percent lows get impacted

your running on first generation ryzen even the af chip isnt a wonder chip.

for 1080p your looking at 5700x3d best or ryzen 7 5700x

for best upgrade path.

if your running a stock cooler i would suggest upgrading it to this first.

Thermalright Burst Assassin 120 SE ARGB Single Tower Air Cooler

make sure drivers are up to date

is the ram a single stick of 16 ddr4 or 2 sticks of 8gb ?

2 sticks of 8GB and drivers are up to date

i can cap the fps at 120 but then the game FEELS like its running on 60hz even capped at 121-130
there isnt really a diffrence till 350-400 and thats whats confusing me

someone mentioned 1% lows though how big of a deal are they?

1 percent lows matter more then the actual highest speed.

1 percent lows are what you are feeling in terms of the sluggishness

the framerate could be 400 but if the 1 pecent lows are under 30 frames for example your going to see stuttering and jittering.

you can also get latency issues with slow memory on cpu side.

the best ram on ddr4 ryzen is 3200mhz cl 16 ( cl16 being important).

cl16 being latency the smaller this number the better cl16 is sweet spot.

are they 2 matching sticks did they come in a kit ?.
