1. Remove any unnecessary hardware from the computer. Disconnect any Universal Serial Bus (USB) devices and printers, and remove the network adapter, sound card, serial adapters, and so on.
2. If you continue to receive this error message, you may need to flash the BIOS on the computer's motherboard. Refer to the manufacturer of your computer or the Web site for the motherboard for information about how to do this

Hello dilipk,

Possibly video card drivers? It seems like hardware issues, you will need to physically take out the hardware(e.g. sound cards, tv tuner, etc.) just start system with only the bare motherboard, video, ram and hard drive.

Make sure you have the latest drivers, but not beta drivers.

Microsoft does have an official Windows 7 Support Forum located here http://tinyurl.com/9fhdl5 . It is supported by product specialists as well as engineers and support teams. You may want to check the threads available there for additional assistance and support.

@ windows7guy
thank you for the reply.
I've been having this problem for about week, so when this prob first came up i removed my video card and took it to the manufacturer service centre and had it checked out , it had no problems.Could the problem be with the PCIe Slot/motherboard ?

I have no extra sound cards, tv tuners.

As for the drivers , they are the latest ones (version 10.5) downloaded from ATI website.

Got the same problem and listed it in another topic, Since I can't quote my topic here because that would be inappropriate I'm just going to tell you right away the following:

- It's not your CPU/GPU temperature
- It's not your Drivers

What could be the problems are a bad motherboard, incompatible hardware (they just don't work well together), windows 7 that's messed up with compatability with some hardware.

Good luck, I think we're in the same 'game' here.

The Windows update you mentioned refers to a possible security flaw, not a stability issue per se. Also, just blaming the problem on a Windows 7 graphical issue doesn't account for the fact that some of OP's games run for two hours before crashing.

Herr Koos I agree, the ATI cards are showing some of the same signs of mass production as Nvidea, the 5xxx series esp, but FWIW first try this: Start, Accessories, Run(right click, run as admin), fsutil behavior query memoryusage, should return a =0, type fsutil behavior set memoryusage 2, reboot the computer, but really it may speed up some apps but the fact you have a hard crash makes me think you are having H/W problems, and the vid card at the top of the list , I copied this from a FS forum, the guy was suffering all kinds of problems logged in with a computer with a Nvidea card and had no problems,so he did some more checking and I copied this,"Currently I suspecting problems related to CPUs having 4 cores or more" also look here:
http://forums.amd.com/game/messageview.cfm?catid=260&threadid=130998,and checking around more I found the 4650 AGP was notorious for this kind of crashing, the architecture is the same so----

What does having a GTX 260+ have to do with the possibility that the crashes are indeed due to a windows 7 issue?

Also, are are 64bit OS more likely to crash than 32bits?

No, smartass, I don't have this thread confused with another.

"A new Windows 7 graphics flaw has been exposed that could expose users of the 64-bit OS to experience non-responsive systems, restarts and unauthorized code execution."

Sounds like graphics stability problems to me. Especially when their recommended fix is to disable Aero, a graphical interface.

I'm not saying the problem doesn't exist. I'm saying it doesn't adequately explain OP's symptoms.

Nor does it explain how I'm able to game on my systems with no problems whatsoever... desktop and laptop... both with nVidia graphics.

Now if that isn't sufficient explanation of my point, then you're not as smart an ass as you appear. I have 2 Windows 7 64-bit computers that run perfectly without crashing. Both are running Aero. So while the problem you state may exist, it doesn't fully explain why this doesn't occur all the time. Granted, I'm using older hardware (8800GT in the desktop and 9600M in the laptop), but I don't know if that has anything to do with it or not. (Most people having problems are running newer graphics cards).

Besides... you're on Vista... so your lack of issues isn't relevent to this thread. :p
