Games freeze randomly sometimes after 2 or 3 hrs play

I play mainly racing games pc2, rf2, Assetto Corsa ECT. Just recently the games have started freezing randomly I can be playing for 2hrs before it freezes. The screen stays at the frozen position but the game continues behind. I can tab out of game and run another game or open any app but the frozen game stays in till I kill it from task manager. My system has a 850w psu, 16gig ddr4 ram, i5 6660k pcu, 120 gig Kingston ssd boot drive, 6tb wd black, and a Asus maximus extreme vii motherboard. I also race using an oculus rift and Logitech g29 steering wheel and peddles.

What GPU are you using? What make/model is the PSU? Are you OCing anything (CPU, GPU, memory)?

It's a VP PRO 850watt pay. A GTX 1070 Gpu. Nothing is OC.

Most likely it's that crap PSU

The likely culprit is the PSU (questionable quality). Can you get the exact model number from the label on the PSU and post it here?

All it has is model name VP-PRO 850W. ZH010☆099. The barcode number is D131104717

Well, cheap PSU have cheap capacitors. It will usually work fine for a couple years. Everything works fine till it doesn't no? How long have you had the 1070?

About a year.. you reckon the extra demand has tipped the psu over the edge. Thanks I will get a new one asap. Thanks for your help psu problem didn't enter my mind

The heat generally wears on them over time. Get a seasonic focus or EVGA Supernova.
