Games freezing - gpu or cpu or component based?

Hi I was wondering if anybody had experienced the same or knows anything about it. I have had my computer for over a year and ever since i set up three screens when i have been playing games it has been freezing and i have had to turn off my PC on the tower or the wall. When it happens it gives no error message and i am not able to access anything not even task manager to close the game. I have it always on full settings and it says that i am running at above 100 fps most of the time. When it crashes sometimes half of the screen will go blue, sometimes just make a loud noise and sometimes just crash silently. I have never opened up my pc or cleaned the inside at all and there is a piece of peel back plastic that once covered the window of my case that is half off but does not appear to be touching anything. Any ideas would be appreciated, also i would be interested to know how to verify and reinstall drivers. Thank you for your answers and support in advance.
