Games not filling my screen.

Since going to an HDMI cable on my PC I noticed that the display was not filling the screen entirely (one inch border around the window). I used the CCC to set scaling to 0% and that did the trick for my OS. I have noticed that when I play some games it will revert back to having the 1" black/grey border around the window. I have noticed this phenomenon with all Crysis games and Batman: Arkham City. Yes I have tried the alt+enter, that only works for actual windowed mode. This is extremely annoying and need some help. Thanks.

There are TWO ways to do this, either by the graphics card or the monitor:

In CCC:
a) Scale by GPU (not monitor), and
b) Scale by Aspect Ratio

This method always correctly scales and stretches to fit your monitor output. It always outputs at your monitor's maximum resolution. For example, if a game was 1024x768 and your monitor was 1920x1080, your video card was scale and stretch that 1024x768 without distortion (by aspect) to fit 1920x1080.

(if you scale on the monitor, it sends the 1024x768 video to the monitor and the monitor does the scaling based on its settings of stretch, 1:1, or scale by aspect.)

However, HDMI may be different than DVI in some cases if it's using the HDTV protocol. In that case you MAY need to setup like THIS:
a) CCC-> HDTV section-> 1080p_NTSC60, then
b) adjust the OVERSCAN

The above is what you do for an HDTV but that may be the same on HDMI inputs for some/all monitors.

Other method:
a) CCC-> Scale by Monitor
b) MONITOR settings (on monitor)-> scale by Aspect

I normally set my monitor to 1:1 scaling, and do scale by GPU/aspect in the video control panel.

Summary:
Basically you need to scale on either the GPU or Monitor, and also scale by Aspect Ratio.
