Games stop working

my problem is that Assassin's Creed, Call of Duty 4, Crysis, and Crysis Warhead stop working all of a sudden. They worked a couple of weeks ago but today when I decided to play some of these games they wouldn't even startup, they would just crash when I clicked on them. I have all of my drivers and games updated.

Intel Core 2 Quad Q8400 2.66Ghz
EVGA GTX 260 core 216 superclocked edition
8 GB ram
750GB HDD
600W PSU

Did you upgrade to Windows 7 since you last played, or did all your games run on Windows 7 previously?

Would seem to be graphics related. It could be either a bad driver installation or a dying PSU as either one could cuase video crashes.

Try uninstalling the video driver and then reboot. Then download the latest driver anbd re-install. If this doesnt cure the problem then it could be your graphics card is not getting enough power - what brand PSU do you have

How on earth does it seem like a graphics problem, the games crash once he clicks on them... The games don't even use your graphics until you start playing, he said they crash when he first clicks on the executable... the only thing that's loaded is a splash screen or the game intros which are normally videos.

It could be a CPU issue, a heat issue, memory issue, motherboard issue heck it could even be a hard disk issue. You could very well be right but by no means does it jump out like a GPU issue. But anyway as for advice, the windows 7 question asked before seems the way to go, did the games stop working as soon as you upgraded?

Check the Event log, to see if there are any errors around the same time when the game crashes.

Nah, I've had windows 7 for a while now and this issue occured before in August. I didn't have a lot of saved games so I just did a clean install of windows 7 again which solved the problem. But now since I'm running into it again I'm guessing it might be a real problem. All of my other games work fine, it's just these ones that stopped working.

sorry real nub how do you get to the event log. Should it be in the game directory?

typre event viewer into the windows search bar and it should appear.

the thing that jumps out to me is actually a possible resolution issue. could be that the games are trying to boot in an unsupported res, failing so closing. ive had the exact same issue before when hooking my pc up to a monitor with a dfferent aspect ratio. try booting the games in windowed mode just in case that is the problem.

EDIT: I just looked at the error message and I'm guessing it has something to do with EVGA precision. Maybe a reinstall of EVGA precision?

Alright problem solved, all I needed to do was to reinstall EVGA precision. But for the reason why I had to is a mystery...
