My computer has never had problems like this but for the last few weeks when I’m playing a game like greedfall or fallout 4, my game will become unresponsive like video games do sometimes but I have to bring up the task manager or the terminal to kill the process. It tries to kill it and the program’s window closes but the process is still running and nothing can kill it. I’ve tried terminal as admin and tried to kill it with the ID but I t says accessed denied. The process is still taking up a good amount of ram too.

My system is a gtx1080 it aurous
I7 6800 cpu
16 gb ram trident
1200 Corsair power supply

I have to restart my computer after this happens, if I don’t steam thinks the game is still running and cannot start another game.

Thanks if anyone can help!

A few questions:

  1. What version of Windows 10 are you running? Need OS Version and Build number.
  2. Does this happen in basically every game you play? Or is it limited to a specific few?
  3. Are the relevant drivers up to date? Video, audio, network? What BIOS version are you running?
  4. Are your system temperatures OK? Both idle and load temps would be good to capture. HWMonitor would be a good utility to use if you haven't already checked these.
  5. Have you noticed any other odd behavior from the system since this freezing issue with these games started?
