Hello TH community. I was wondering if gaming with a 4k 65 inch TV was any good? A good friend of mine gave me his "LG UH5500" TV. I was in the process of looking into getting a monitor, but then that happened. I am aware that 4k TVs don't go past the 60hz refresh rate which doesnt seem to be an issue for me. Another thing is the response rate isnt too critical for me either considering the fact that I'm not too much of a competitive player. I like games like tomb raider, god of war etc.. The HDMI input to the tv is 2.0.. So with that being said, is there any other disadvantage from gaming with my 4k tv besides the refresh rate/g sync/ response rate? Thanks for the future responses :)! And I apologize in advance if theres another similar forum. Thanks a ton.

I game on a 49in Spectre... Scepter? Wally world Tv. 60Hz refresh, 120Hz engine, and it's fairly nice. I'm in the process of upgrading right now and I have a 60in Sharp, 60Hz panel, 60Hz engine and it's painful. I got it a couple days ago and am taking it back tomorrow, will get either the LG or the Sammy and see how those are. The Sharp has a great picture if nothing is moving, but terrible if stuff moves, very choppy. Will not try Sharp again. But ya, run a fairly beefy setup and not even playing intensive games, I have a 6700K plus a 980Ti under custom water, will replace the 980Ti when the 1080Ti comes out.
I run a samsung JU7500 4K TV and love it. but your rig has to be beefy. I currently run 2 GTX 1080's in SLI and while i can max most games out, i can't max every game (max in game settings with manual filtering /AA 16x by 8x). What Is your computer specs? Also you need to insure your set has low input lag and low/no motion blur for the experience to be enjoyable. 4:4:4 chroma helps too for clean text.

Hey! I apologize for not including my rig. I have 16 gb of ram 2x8, and intel 4790k i7 processor, and my gpu is gtx 750 ti, but I'm buying a 1070 today. Only cause the 1080 alone still has trouble runnin 4k at 60 fps at max settings. I'll be playing most likely at 1440 resolution. I'll hop on the 4k graphic cards once they can handle 4k at everything maxed setting. Let me know your thoughts and suggestions! Gladly appreciate it.

Got a Samsung 55in 6950 display unit again, wally world, so half price, but had to talk the manager into letting it go. It's pretty nice, great picture, smooth graphics, very happy with it. As far as not getting 60 frames maxed, not really a problem if you're not playing competitively twitch games. Fallout 4 I'm sticking near enough to 60 that it's not noticeable, but I have some stuff turned down a lil. D3, everything turned all the way up still rocking 150 FPS. I'd look at the games you play, and when you see the difference of 1440p against 1080, think another lvl above that. 1080 can handle, just don't expect to max out all the settings on every single game, not that important at 4k though. Still looks awesome, and when they start making textures to take advantage of 4k, all the better.

I've used 3 different TV's over the years and a projector.
Look into the new Vizio Pro series
Specifically P55-C1

The specs on this are very impressive for gaming.
I'm currently trying to consider this vs a 34" Ultra Wide Screen monitor. Really wish they would make a 40" monitor in ultra wide. Oh well
