Hello, everyone! As the title of this thread reads, I am needing some help with my build.

Purchase Date: As of right now I am planning on purchasing every part of the build during the second week in January.

Budget: I'd like to keep it at $1000.00 but if it seems like this isn't enough then I can go a little higher. So I'd cap it off at $1,200.00

System Usage: It will almost be entirely for gaming. The only games I won't play on it will be FPS. I'd rather play FPS games on a console. The majority of games that I will be playing will be MMORPG games, such as Star Wars: The Old Republic and Guild Wars 2. A few RPG games, such as Skyrim and The Witcher 2. And a few other games with interesting multiplayer like LoL and DoTa 2. I know that The Old Republic and Guild Wars 2 haven't been released yet so I guess with MMORPG games the most difficult to run as of right now would be Rift? I've been out of PC gaming for quite a while now so I'm not really sure.

Parts Not Required: Mouse, Keyboard, Speakers. The OS will be Win7 home 64 bit.

Country: United States

Parts Preference: I have almost no preference as of right now. I've been back and forth between AMD and Intel for the past 3 months that I feel that I really don't have a clue.

Preferred website: I'd really like to get everything from Newegg. I live in a very rural community so there are no retail shops that I know of where I could buy any of my components. Other than a Best Buy but from what I looked at they didn't have much of a selection of anything.

Overclocking: Maybe for the CPU but I won't OC anything else.

SLI/Crossfire: Maybe in the near future. But for now I am only looking to use one card.

Monitor Resolution: 1680x1050

Comments: I really want a large case. Plenty of room for future upgrades, fans, and a nice window to view it all. So far the Cooler Master HAF X is what I'm set on at the moment. If anyone has any opinions on it or a better case please do say so. Multiple large fans and LED's are a must. I do love my flashy lights.

I pretty much need advice on every component. I understand what each part does and I understand what most of the details on each component mean but since this is my first build I really don't know anything in terms of build quality or performance from certain brands as compared to others.

I really appreciate any help that I can get on this subject! Please let me know if I left anything important out or you may just ask!

Hm.. I'm not sure about that card. Haha, I would love it but it would bring me to about $1.1k but I'll have to see. I've decided that I'm going to order everything on the 30th of December. Unless I find some really amazing deals that Newegg might have for Christmas or for New Years.

Are you sure it's fine to go with an OEM for a optical drive?

And yes, haha, It has changed quite a bit Emelth. I am a very indecisive person.

Yeah, thats what he means. They are supposed to be almost as good as 570ti.

I know, you were concerned about wether it was worth getting the 560ti over 560 huh, now you have another choice to make.

No matter, choices come down to how far you are really willing to go. You'll probably find upon comparison that most 448 core cards cost nearly as much as a 570ti, and once you picked one out someone would suggest the 570ti.

But why stop there why not a 580ti? You know it would be better, or even a 590........never mind just get this, and you know two of them would be better

Mostly geared towards highend video editing, but if you had a card like that immagine how it would breeze through games, I doubt anyone we know has the money to try it and see.

Haha, if only I could afford it. But I think I'm just going to go with a 560 Ti. If I wanted a card that would be almost like a 570, then I would just get a 570. I guess that's the life of a PC builder: Always upgrading.

It wouldn't cut through games, as it isn't designed for it.It is supposed to render as accurately as possible. Not as fast as it can. Now if you want to flame, show me a 570ti. Or a 580ti. Where are they? Why do you need to second cut all of my suggestions? Does it make you feel better? I made a suggestion that depending on what 560ti was chosen wouldn't have necessarily cost much more.

If he wanted to pay for it than he could have. I never tried to shove it down his throat. Heck, you stated more expensive motherboards. I stated a more expensive GPU. Tell me what is wrong for saying that that was a better card. Is it because it wasn't ASUS? Way to tell everyone you can link the most expensive GPU.

Ok I will calm down... It's just that rmii always disagrees or flames me. Every time I post on something that has rmii somewhere on it...
On the superclocked, if it is the same price I would get it. If the super clocked costs more, than I wouldn't pay for it as it is easy to OC to the levels that EVGA will do for you.

I'm not sure if I'd ever really like to overclock a GPU.. unless it was a very small amount.

And I don't think he was attempting to "flame" or put you down in any way. He was just saying in response to what I said earlier about always having to upgrade is why should you stop at one point when you could get something that would be better and not have to upgrade for a longer period of time.

Yeah - me neither. I read it as how we all probably feel and wrestle with what to buy. You go up step by step until you hit your price limit. Then you re-think it and do it all over again!
I was having this match with myself over the 570 - but finally I decided they will probably come out with their 6xx or 7xx series this spring, so I'm getting my double-RAM and I'm done!

BTW, everything has arrived and is in my possession except the CPU (which I did order last). I have the same comment as Rusty on the Amazon packaging. For the most part, everything was great. The best packed item was the ASUS DVD RW - wrapped and taped in bubble wrap, etc. from Amazon. The worst packed item was the motherboard - also from Amazon. Really no effort to fill the airspace with packing aterial - and what was in there was basically a joke. I also didn't like the packing of the mobo itself - which is an ASUS thing. I'll have to talk more about that later, but it shouldn't be a big deal - if everything works!

I'm thinking of finding a way to post a time table of my order/receipt times with pictures - and then the build. Maybe follow it up after a couple weeks with "how I like the box".

Merry Christmas to me!

(But the grandkids are the real winners this year - and my wife :) )

The box from Amazon had a very small amount of those air-bag fillers - most of which were void of air - and even if they were full of air, not enough for the box.
The ASUS motherboard box itself came ok, but my questions probably arise more from the fact that one of the sets of heat fins appears impacted, and there is no factory seal tape on the motherboard box. I don't see how that impact scuff could happen without damage to the ASUS box, so I have to question whether the ASUS box and/or motherboard was used before, or if it was an ASUS packaging issue (they packaged it after a ding anyway). That's why I'm not too worried at the moment, but the true test will be when I get the CPU and can build and run the box.

As of this morning, the CPU won't be delivered today 🙁 It figures the last item I ordered would be the one that gets delayed and holds up the whole show! LOL

D: That sucks about the Mobo. If I got something that looked even slightly damaged I'd send it right back.

Haha, I guess this is why a lot of people suggest that you order all of your parts at the same time. How does everything else look?
