Hi! I've built several PCs before but that was 8 years ago and out of touch with the latest parts. Most demanding thing I do is a mixture of graphically intense games on a 65 inch 4k oled TV but might get several large monitors instead.

I have a large budget £4.5k this time, how would others build this one?

Well, a high end monitor will set you back a 1000 or more. Depends on what you are after. There are certainly some interesting OLED, QD-OLED, and Mini-LED displays out there are very high end. 4K 240hz is the new poster child, but even an RTX 4090 will have trouble reaching that FPS.

You can opt for a 4090 in this build. This 3090Ti is on sale at the moment and makes more sense to me. 4090 in the UK seem to be overpriced, but that could just be low stock issues.

You can switch to CPU water cooling pretty easily. Add additional fans.

Keyboard, mouse, headphones/DAC, you could spend a lot on. Just depends on how well you are already setup and how much you want to spend on such things. You can blow a few hundred on just a keyboard...

Thanks Eximo!

I can wait to buy the 4090 and see if it drops after x-mas, would putting this card in change anything else in the build?

I take it the 13900 is such a marginal increase on the 13700 its pretty irrelevant?

Any advantage to 64 GB ram?

I prepped the build for a 4090 by including a PSU that includes the new 12-pin power connector standard. That 3090Ti also uses it. And the PSU still offers 4x standard 8-pin PCIe connectors for something like an AMD 7900XTX which will be the other new card launching soon.

For gaming, the 13900K only offers a very small increase. Really you could go down to the 13600k and still have 95% the performance, but the 13700K is a nice compromise with its extra two P cores. Essentially a 12900K with a little more cache and frequency.

Again, for gaming, there really aren't any games that demand that much memory. If you like to highly multitask and run a lot of background programs, maybe. 2x32GB would be recommended then. Getting high speed memory to work with 4 sticks has proven problematic.

Nice build from Eximo. Something to consider is the PSU. Although a very decent one quoted above, the 3090ti has high transient power spikes. Sometimes in the order of 650w alone depending on which GPU you choose. A 1000-1200w gives plenty of headroom for the spikes and the power draw of the 13700k which has a max turbo power of 253w. So, for very heavy loads having a beefier PSU should help.

Worst case scenario with the CPU pulling 221W and the 3090Ti drawing 500-550W, you are still in the safe range, barely.

Being an ATX 3.0 PSU it should have longer delays before tripping on OCP. Most PSUs OCP will be at least 50% higher than the rating. They are intended to absorb spikes. The problem came mostly from older high wattage PSUs that didn't have this behavior in mind and smaller PSUs with the appropriate cabling but not really the capacity to back them up.

Right now the cost of a 1000+ W PSU has rapidly climbed due to the 4090 sales.

Luv threads with these budgets. You get the best gaming case, solid board, 4090, etc ... what sucks is the lack of choice of DDR5 in the UK. With that said here's a non RGB build but an RGB version of this build can be had for a similar price but tbh if I were you I'd wait until Jan. 3rd when Intel releases the i7 13700 / 13700F along with the new B760 DDR5 boards. That will save you a significant amount of money while netting similar results.
