Gaming causes my computer to crash

Hi, I've had my computer for a while but for the past year or so I've been having this issue.
I'll play any game and after a while my computer will crash. It will go to a black screen and then I will hear all the fans stop. The power light is still on but there is no disk activity. Its effectively "off" I believe. I do however have to hold down the power button in order for the power light to go off. Sometimes I'll be able to play for a month or so without this occurring, other times it happens all the time. My computer never crashes while I browse the web or watch videos.

The other issues that I have are, when I shut off the computer it will go to the powering off screen but it will freeze after a few seconds. Again the power light is on but there is no disk activity and I have to hold down the power button to shut it off completely. The other problem is on start up, it will hang at the windows loading screen, the image remains on the screen, the power light is on but again no disk activity.
