For a pure gaming build how long would an i7 9700k last?

5 years? Or less.

I know no one can predict the future.

as things stand, yes
Not many games actually use multiple cores yet and this cpu has plenty for when that time comes
Also the i7 9700k has very strong single core performance
Added to this it is overclockable

to my mind it should last you atleast 5+ years

My friend has i7 4770k since 2014 and it stil rocks so you can say 5-7 years
