Gaming Desktop! Need help with build!

Im looking to build a gaming desktop under 1000. Nothing over 1000 maybe like 50 but not anything more! Im pretty brain dead when it comes to computer parts and knowing which are good and which aren't. I have a monitor http://www.amazon.com/HP-2159M-21-5-Inch-LCD-Monitor/dp...

Im wanting to be able to play these games in great fps! (Fps with 60 and not problem with lag or of the sort)

The plextor is $40:00 for a reason, you could easily save $20:00 here though. Same with mobo but extreme4 is an excellent choice.

The 770 is quite a lot better than 760 and wouldn't recommend lower.

I5/770 is the better gaming experience, however, the AMD will stream noticeably better.

Yes. both systems will give you a very decent gaming experience on all games old, not so old, even new.

around $900 that was just a rough build to give u some idea. I think with ur budget u should buy intel cpu, they have better per core performance than amd.

I have a 760, and I get about 40-50ish FPS with BF4.

I'm gonna stick my neck on the block and say I5k/Extreme 4/ GTX 770. It's in budget and you won't regret it i'm sure.

Games are using more cores and envisage this to only increase. However, intel solution (since core 2 duo) has been doing much more per clock cycle. I upgraded from barton xp3200 the last true intel beater (2003) when core2 came out in 2006. Have never looked back. 98% score on recent steam survey shows them all using quads that is not gonna change for awhile.

Games that do utilize more than 4 cores are running between 30-40% load (ie amd) Intel's are at 40-80% game dependent of course.

This won't change where game developers main focus is on dollars. ie 98% are using quads.

Stay away from AMD for anything. For $1000 you can have a system based on a GTX 770 and an i5 4670k, quality motherboard, plenty of ram etc...........anyone pushing AMD garbage isn't doing you any favors. Ive built a ton of systems featuring AMD processors and graphics cards, and they always perform poorly overall in comparison with Intel/Nvidia based PC builds.

The only thing AMD is good for is keeping Intel and Nvidia prices in check. That's it.

It appears you didn't understand my last post correctly (or at all).

Yes games will utilize more cores (ie AMD's eight cores for example). However, under current differential architectural significance Intel's are doing way more per clock cycle. This might change and i would gladly purchase one such CPU if and when it happens. Now the gap has closed but it is not significant. IE OP can afford an intel solution and gaming is primarily his/hers main workload. He/she needs to know what will suit purposefully best now.
I'm pretty sure i would be still using my i5 for another few years yet, if i had not made the decision to upgrade. The next intel desktop cpu won't happen until 2015. Yep that's how confident they are.

Without sounding arrogant i could go on considerably at great lengths, but it serves OP no benefit. I would and have gladly endorsed AMD CPU's for gaming cpu on numerous occasions where money was tight. However, as aforementioned OP has the budget and he/she deserves the best they can afford therein.

I wouldn't have put quite so bluntly, but agree with you with one exception. AMD cards as they stand currently are superb under 13.xxx drivers. Of course CFX is whole different story and i should know having 2 such cards.LOL.
