If you want a gaming monitor get one with 120Hz.
Good 60Hz models get around 8-10ms ghosting time, while good 120Hz ones get around 5ms. This means less smudging/blur in isometric games (like torchligh), and shooters.

The problem with these monitors is that they use TN panels, so colors, blacks and angle quality suffers. The best alternative would be an IPS panel (only 60Hz for now sadly)
