gaming on external storage??

I have some usb2.0 ports (No 3.0) and two FireWire 800, I have 2 spare sata ports on my MB. No spare sata power cable.

I want to store and play games on a ssd drive, I want to use it as plug and play.
How should I do this ? What method should I use to connect it?


I know it's not worth it to use a ssd but I don't like spinning external hard drives vibrating on my desk.

Have a 5tb WD red LAN storage nas, but the read and write speed to too slow to play games off of it.

Which SSD drive do you have Internal or External. FireWire 800 is fast interface than USB. You may get external SSD if you want to use plug and play or if your case supports then you can use hotswap option for mounting/dismounting internal ssd on SATA port.
