I think this statement from them is bull... a gpu will need to be taken apart at some point or other.
While one can use an air compressor to 'blow out' a gpu, it still can't make up for a good, deep clean; dust will cake in areas that can't be knocked out by a compressor.

Even if one filters every inlet/outlet of their chassis, they'll have to deep clean it at some point. Dust is inevitable.
Perhaps in Arctic's defense, the gpu will have outlived its usefulness by the time that becomes a problem...

If you have to take apart the GPU to clean it of course it will need new thermal paste. He said it will be good forever as long as it is UNDISTURBED. If you have to take apart a GPU to clean it then the thermal paste is no longer undisturbed. He did not addressed whether or not a cpu/gpu cooler will need to be cleaned. He only said as long as you don't break apart or twist the cooler/cpu joint the thermal paste will remain good forever. I am not sure this is correct but you can't say it is wrong because you feel the need to take apart and clean a cooler.

Yeah, you're right. It's not wrong, but still, something about it doesn't sit right with me.

This article was useful for the majority of PC owners. I'm betting the number of owners who actually have taken a gpu apart, to clean it or whatever, is laughably low.

I dunno guys. This is an awful lot like buying a used police cruiser. You know it's been abused hard and you have no idea how much life there is left in it. The card, like a retired police cruiser, would have to be at a real deep discount before I'm even tempted. Performance is not the only issue in buying second hand cards.

I am pretty sure the card would have held up fine for many years. And, how many years do you think you would have used it before you bought a new one? Probably not that many years..

I still have a gtx760 in perfectly working condition thats been used alot. And its old to.. But still works fine.

If i got a discount on a mining card cheap er then the average price i would be happy.. It will last way much longer then i will ever use it..

Seriously lol. What happened to the quality of reporting here.

"Old mining 2080Ti worn out and gets hot!"
"Definitely due to mining...but there's also really dirty fans that may or may not be related"

How do these people get hired?

The thermal paste and pads are one thing but they didn't even bother cleaning the dust that naturally builds up over time?

I'm lost for words as there is no excuse for that level of ignorance of basic maintenance of owning a computer.

This article would have made a lot more sense if it was posted April 1.

I would prefer gamers to stay away from them, so the cards will have very little value and they have to sell for cheap. Worn out RAM chips can be easily replaced......
